Ro-Nalt Schrauwen (1961, Dordrecht) is Ludens Artifex, Collagist, beeldhouwer en initiatiefnemer van Pakje Kunst.

De Collagist
Mijn collages zijn een associatief gebeuren, een kwantummechanische happening van zijn en niet zijn. Een ontstaansproces van kwalitatieve willekeurigheid, spontaniteit, chaos en irrationaliteit.

Het aantrekkelijke van het maken van collages is de surrealistische mogelijkheid om verschillende beelden om te zetten tot een nieuwe werkelijkheid. Het vervreemdende karakter van de collage wringt en dwingt mensen om aandachtig naar de collages te kijken om de essentie er uit te halen.

De Beeldhouwer
Mijn sculpturen zijn voornamelijk figuratief. De vloeiende lijnen van het lichaam, de welvingen en plooien, de overgang van het ene lichaamsdeel in de ander heeft mijn fascinatie. Vooral als deze vloeiende lijn een bepaalde deformatie en/of abstractie bevat. Daarnaast is er de vloeiende lijn die ontstaat vanuit En Taille Directe, de spontane abstractie.

Sinds januari 2020 werk ik in hout dat uit het Stadsbos Tilburg afkomstig is. Dit is hout van Esdoorns, Amerikaans en Europees Eiken en Berken. Daarnaast maak ik gebruik van houtsoorten die toevallig op mijn pad komen, zoals Essen, Els, Plataan, Pijnboom, Fluweelboom, Kers en Populier.
Doordat bomen reeds menselijke vormen bevatten zie ik het als een uitdaging om deze verder te duiden en bloot te leggen. Het is een wisselwerking tussen dat wat gegeven wordt en dat wat wordt bedacht.
De Ruimtelijke Collagist.
Mijn 3D collages geven mij de mogelijkheid de collagist en de beeldhouwer te laten samenkomen. De gelaagdheid van analoge collages van papier en transparanten geeft een nieuwe dimensie aan het beeldhouwerschap.

In mijn 3D collages beschouw ik voornamelijk religieuze themata die een vorm van hypocrisie of moralisme bevatten. Misschien niet in de theologische betekenis, maar zeker wel in de theopraxis.

Ro-Nalt Schrauwen (1961, Dordrecht) is an independent artist from the Netherlands, initiator of Pakje Kunst and was project leader of 'de Zondaars', a collaboration between seven artists from seven different disciplines who were inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins.

"I'm not looking for innovation, originality, pompous or far-fetched art. My work is direct, (un)polished, frivolous and somewhat shocking when people don't know or don't want to see the message. I like nagging, pedantic aesthetics. Art that has a certain aesthetic, but twists and makes you think. I make what I find beautiful or interesting."

The Collagist
In my collages I work both spontaneously and thematically. The spontaneous is my free work, the themes project-based. I prefer the term spontaneous rather than intuitive because intuitive has negative connotations for me. I experience it more as a free, thoughtless act that arises and grows on the spot. Nevertheless, the spontaneous also finds its way into the thematic. Confused? You will be!
The special thing about collages for me is the surrealistic possibility to transform different images into a new reality. The alienating nature of the collage twists and forces people to look closely at the collages to extract the essence.

The Sculptor
My sculptures are mainly figurative. The flowing lines of the body, the curves and folds, the transition from one part of the body to the other fascinates me. Especially if this smooth line contains a certain deformation and/or abstraction.
In addition, there is the flowing line that arises from En Taille Directe, the spontaneous abstraction.

Since January 2020 I have been working in wood that comes from the Stadsbos Tilburg. This is wood from Maples, American and European Oaks and Birches. In addition, I use types of wood that happen to come my way, such as Ash, Els, Plane, Pine, Velvet Tree, Cherry and Poplar.
Because trees already contain human forms, I see it as a challenge to further interpret and expose them. It is an interaction between that which is given and that which is conceived.
The Spatial Collagist
My 3D collages allow me to bring together the collagist and the sculptor. The layering of analogue collages of paper and transparencies gives a new dimension to sculpting.
​
In my 3D collages I mainly consider religious themes that contain a form of hypocrisy or moralism. Perhaps not in the theological sense, but certainly in the theopraxis.
