Als collagist ben ik geïnspireerd in de surrealistische mogelijkheden om verschillende beelden om te zetten tot een nieuwe werkelijkheid. Het vervreemdende karakter van de collage dwingt mensen om aandachtiger naar de collages te kijken om de essentie er uit te halen.

 

Mijn werk komt enerzijds op een spontane manier tot stand, waarbij ik op zoek ga naar nieuwe vormen en toepassingen binnen de beperkingen van reeds bestaand beeldmateriaal. 

Door het beeldmateriaal te bevrijden uit de oorspronkelijke staat en te combineren met ander ontvoogd beeldmateriaal ontstaat een nieuw kunstwerk dat schuurt, bevraagt, bevreemdt en/of ontroert.

De combinatie met bestaande iconografieën opent een deur naar een andere werkelijkheid en belevingswereld. Het vervreemdende karakter van de collages vraagt om een kritische blik om daarmee de essentie van die nieuwe, andere werkelijkheid te achterhalen.

As a collage-maker I'm inspired by the surrealistic posibilities of mixing images to a new reality. In my collage I like to play with alienation.

By freeing the visual material from its original state and combining it with other emancipated visual material, a new work of art is created that chafes, questions, surprises and/or moves.

 

The combination with existing iconographies opens a door to a different reality and world of experience. The alienating character of the collages calls for a critical eye in order to discover the essence of this new, different reality.

​All collages are without frame. I recommend that you put the collage in a frame with acrylic instead of glass. Acrylic protects for 95% against UV so that the collages do not or hardly discolor.
